Gae Assail Notes

• In Irish mythology, the Gae Assail or Gae Bolg is the spear of Lugh Lam Fada, which, when thrown, always finds its target and is always lethal. It was used by Lugh's son Cuchulainn in battle to tragic ends, when he slew his own son, upon whom he placed a binding promise (geasa) never to reveal his name or parentage to a challenger.
