Trivia to add, reference of JoJo part 2, Joseph wears a mask just like that with the same purpose as the description while he trains with Lisa Lisa

      • Anonymous

This appears to be a referenced Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, keeping with castlevania tradition. Specifically, it resembles the breathing mask Joseph Joestar was made to wear in part 2, during his training. Specifically, (minor spoilers follow below) It is meant to be a reference to the Hamon training mask that Lisa Lisa made him wear in Italy when she agreed to train him in Hamon breathing. The mask forces the wearer to breath in the Hamon rhythm, with failure to do so preventing the wearer from breathing at all. He wore it for the duration of his incredibly grueling training, mean to push him to the absolute limits of his mind, body, and Hamon ability. This is both a reference to Jojo, and a subtle nod to the purpose of this mask being to train the user in ways to defeat creatures of darkness, Hamon being used primarily to destroy zombies and vampires.
