Livre Ex Machina Walkthrough

After witnessing a brief exchange of power from Gebel and Alfred, Miriam continues her journey as she stumbles upon a library that was built from a mix of old and new technology. It may look serene, but demons roam the area alongside a strong demon that awaits deep within the library.

The Depths of Livre Ex Machina

Right after the brief confrontation between Alfred and Gebel, we now find ourselves in Livre Ex Machina. Head to the bottom level where you'll find a small bookshelf that has a blue colored mechanism at the top. Similar to what you did to the gear in the Towers of Twin Dragons, have Miriam extend her arm by using the right analog stick to move the bookcase out of the way and once that's done continue onward the next room.

A Mechanical Library

Once you're in the next room, you'll find yourself in a room that looks like a library with countless bookshelves that can be moved around. A poltergeist will then attack you once you're inside. Now, you'll need to operate the bookshelves by pulling it out with her ability so that you can use it as platforms to reach the next room, just be mindful to pull out the ones that look like a bookshelf and not with the caged demons. Since if you pull out the cage, it will open up to release the demon inside it. After you're done, continue head west towards the next area and continue heading west until you reach the room with a movable bookcase.

Inside the room with the movable bookcase, run towards the end to your left where the bookcase that seems to block your way will turn, allowing you to go through another room, from there you'll find a chest with 1x Crow Mask, obtain the gear and back to the previous room, use the movable bookcase as a platform and jump up to reach yet another room.

Inside the room, you'll be attacked by 3x Poltergeist, 1x Carriage Morte, and 1x Demon. After killing the demons, walk towards the wall at the right-hand side near the metal platforms and strike it with your weapon for it to be revealed as a breakable wall, breaking the wall will allow you to acquire 1x HP Max Up. Once that's done, you can continue your exploration and head up the metal platforms.

In this room, you'll find another movable bookshelf. Continue heading west where you'll face a Dantalion alongside a Carriage Morte (killing the Dantalion may provide a chance to drop a Familiar: Dantalion shard while the Carriage Morte may drop the Firearm Expertise charm). At the 2nd movable bookshelf, you can jump on it and have Miriam extend her arm for it to move you towards the other end and to avoid the spikes on the ground. Inside the next room, there will be a chest that is being guarded by 1x Rul'sha, kill the demon and open the chest to acquire 1x Cookies recipe.

For the next room, you'll notice that there is a mechanism that will start to move into a staircase-like platform. Head up the platform first, and proceed to the room to your left.

Orlok Dracule, the Librarian

You'll now meet a new NPC, a vampire librarian who introduces himself as Orlok Dracule but prefers to be called OD. Here, you can visit OD and borrow books from his library. Each book is unique and provides the reader with various stat buffs upon finishing reading it, Miriam can only borrow one book at a time, and keep in mind to return the book after using it. Before you leave the library, make sure to speak to him again to learn more about how to get your credentials to use the train within the castle. Once that's done, you can continue heading up to discover another fast travel room for you to use and unlock.

After exploring the upper area, head back down to where the staircase platform is and this time head west. This will lead you to a boss battle, but before entering the glowing red door make sure to visit the save room near the bookshelf, read the journal, and SAVE YOUR GAME.

The Battle with Andrealphus

As soon as you enter the glowing red door, a boss battle between Miriam and Andrealphus will begin. You can visit the Bosses page to learn more about strategies on how to defeat this boss. Upon defeat, players will unlock the "Wing Clipper" Trophy/Achievement. In conjunction with this, you'll also acquire the Double Jump ability that will allow Miriam to jump a second time while in midair.

With this ability, you can now reach platforms and areas that are high - right before leaving the arena, be sure to head to the top and test out the new ability, you'll now be able to reach the chest that has 1x Feather Crown in it. Now, head back to Towers of Twin Dragons where you can now traverse platforms that were high and hard to reach.

Livre Ex Machina (Revisited) Walkthrough

After acquiring a new shard from defeating Bathin at the Underground Sorcery Lab, Miriam returns to Livre Ex Machina to further explore the depths of Gebel's castle.

Return to Livre Ex Machina

We pick up where we left off from the Underground Sorcery Lab, at this point you've acquired the Reflector Ray shard that will allow you to traverse areas in a different way. Fast travel to the fast travel room in Livre Ex Machina where you'll find the previous room to have reflectors, use the Reflector Ray to teleport onto the next area to your right.

Once you're in the next room, you'll find yourself inside a room where it has a grinder-like mechanism in between the floor and on the ceiling, this deals damage upon contact. At the right-hand side of the first level, there will be 1x Tamako-Death enemy, you can ignore it and jump up to the metal platform to reach another room.

Inside this room, there will be 1x Leraje, kill it and continue heading to the top towards another room with moving platforms and grinding mechanisms. If you continue heading west on the 1st level of this room, you can find a green chair next to a path leading to another room, go through it for now. (Do not sit on the chair but instead strike it with your weapon to reveal itself to be a Chair Mimic. Miriam may acquire the Summon Chair shard upon killing the enemy)

The large room will have 1x Dragon blocking your path, kill it and proceed further to find a chest with 1x Gold Equipment recipe. Just above the chest, there is a platform that you can reach, use the Reflector Ray shard and strike the breakable wall to acquire 1x Traverser's Ring. Obtain the items and head back to the previous room. Use the moving bookshelves as a platform to reach the 2nd level, and jump up onto the platform that is on the east-hand side that will lead you into another room.

From here, the room will be filled with demons blocking your path. You'll encounter 2x Lance Armor, 1x Thunder Elemental, 1x Carriage Morte, and 1x Leraje (Miriam may acquire the Chaser Arrow shard from killing the Leraje).

Simply clear out the demons and proceed further into the next room until you reach the area with a bookshelf pushed against a wall and a metal platform in the middle of the room - jump up on the platform and proceed to the next room

Rotating Platforms

In this room, you'll find yourself in a narrow looking room that has rotating bookshelves that can be used as a platform to reach the top. Be mindful that there will be Maledictions that will continuously spawn and attack you. Time your jumps and use the bookshelves to reach the metal platform at the top that will lead you into another room.

Once you're in the new room, you'll find a brown wooden chest to your right. That chest is a Mimic and will become hostile once you open it. (Miriam may acquire the Money is Power shard upon killing the enemy) - continue and proceed to your left towards another room.

You'll find yourself yet again inside a room with moving platforms and a grinding mechanism below that deals damage upon contact. The goal is to use the platforms to reach the 2nd level and to head west towards the next room. Be mindful that once you reach the 2nd level, multiple Dullahammer Heads will start to spawn and fly around.

In the next room, you'll find a locked door with a pink aura, ignore this area since you'll need to acquire Celeste's Key to unlock her room. Proceed to the 2nd level, read the journal inside the bookshelf and save your game through the save room next to it. Afterward, head to the 3rd level and through the hall that will lead you to another boss battle.

Boss Battle, Abyssal Guardian (Boss)

Inside the next room is another boss battle, the Abyssal Guardian (Boss), a huge black dragon that guards an area against those who seek to further explore the depths of the library. You can visit the Bosses page to learn more about strategies on how to defeat this boss. Upon defeating this boss, players will unlock the "Dragonslayer" Trophy/Achievement and the door that was behind the Abyssal Guardian (Boss) will unlock. This path will lead you towards a new location, the Hall of Termination.
