Collect your Shards
Shards in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night serves as the game's mechanic of executing magic. Luckily, obtaining Shards is easy but may be a hit and miss situation. Each demon (Enemies) that you'll encounter holds a unique power that forms into a crystallized shard once they're killed. So, whenever you see a demon, new or old, kill it for a chance to acquire its Shard. And if it doesn't drop its shard, you can always exit the section and re-enter it for that specific demon to respawn, allowing you to try your luck with obtaining its power.
Try Out Every Weapon
Miriam isn't just an expert with controlling various powers of a demon, she is also a trained fighter and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night introduces a wide variety of Weapons for you to choose from shoes, guns, whips, swords, and many more, the game also includes a mechanic that allows you to change the weapon from the menu on the fly or even during a fight for more versatility. So, whenever you find a new type of weapon, try it out, give it a swing and perfect the mastery of a specific weapon.
Grind your Player Level
Stuck and having trouble defeating a boss? Simply level up! Grinding for a higher level is a fun mechanic for RPG players, and for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, leveling up is pretty much simple and straightforward. However, doing so may have its disadvantages, it is time-consuming and an excess tactic of grinding to a higher level will make the game feel like a walk in the park. So, level-up responsibly. Here's a recommended way to level up your character though in-case you need to - try to look for a section that is filled with enemies that have high XP, kill them to gain XP, then exit and re-enter the room. This way, the enemies that you think has high XP will instantly respawn once you re-enter the room.
Observe the Doors
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night focuses on exploration and forces you to head into one room after the other, and with this, players are given a hint for what lies beyond the next section of a location. These are the doors that serve as a divider that leads a player into something or somewhere. There are two types of doors that can be found in the game, first is a silver door with pinkish lights that outline the door, these are doors that are safe and leads to a new, location or a different section of a discovered location. And the second door is a black door that has red lights outlined and a sigil at the center of it, these indicate that there is a boss waiting at the other side of the room. In conjunction with a door leading to a boss, there is usually a save room that can be found near the black door.
Talk to the NPCs
If you're lost and don't know the next objective, return to Arvantville and talk to the NPCs. Specifically Dominique. The world of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is large and can be overwhelming at the start where you'll most likely run around while trying to figure out what to do next, despite that, talking to the NPCs in Arvantville may give you an idea of what to do next or even more insights to the lore, but your lifesaver will most likely be Dominique. Speaking to her will give you clues for your next objective or clues about where to go next. It's all up to you, of course, to remember it once you continue your exploration.
Explore each and every Area
In conjunction with exploration, make sure you try to fill in the map of a location and explore each section in it before proceeding to the next location. Not only is it satisfying that you're able to fully map the area, but you can also discover hidden paths, rooms, and breakable walls that contain rare and unique items.
Revisit Arvantville
The locations in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night are large and consists of enemies that come in different shapes and sizes, these enemies may look easy to defeat but fighting multiple demons at once especially in a narrow section of a location can be a player's downfall. So whenever you find a fast travel room, always use the opportunity and make it a habit to port back to Arvantville and restock your supplies or try to upgrade your gear before you continue your journey.
