Materials can be found in various ways such as enemy or boss drops, scattered in various locations, inside treasure chests, sold by Merchants, and by dismantling items. Materials can be given to Johannes and are mainly used as ingredients for Crafting.

      This item is completely useless, by the time I can finally get it to craft high jump I already had invert and was able to reach all the places that required high jump to be reach.
      And they also take it away in NG+ which is the only last reason why I would want it, to get high jump along with double jump in the next playthrough.

      • You want to collect (grind) at least 7 of these immediately. 3 to finish upgrading Optimizer, 3 to finish upgrading Double Jump, and 1 to create High Jump. I suggest you actually grind the initial 7 and 8 more to craft the remaining 8 High Jumps. Reflector Ray will also require 9 Bovine Plumes. Some might say a different order is better, but this should maximize the Bovine Plume grind: 1 for High Jump > 3 for Optimizer lvl 7-9 > 3 for Double Jump lvl 7-9 > 8 to create remaining 8 High Jumps > 9 to fully upgrade Reflector Ray
